Sony Pictures green-lighted this sequel just three days after _Grudge, The (2004/I)_ was released.

Director Takashi Shimizu went to Los Angeles to meet with producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi in a small office at Columbia Pictures. The purpose was to develop a story outline for the sequel's first draft, which also involved employees from Tapert and Raimi's production company Ghost House Pictures, producer Taka Ichise, and writer Stephen Susco. According to Tapert, the session was roughly seven or eight hours of people suggesting ideas for the story.

To keep the mood on the set light, the actors and director would often joke around and attempt to frighten one another. This included a Karaoke session performed by Shimizu, Takashi on Kebbel, Arielle's birthday.

The role of Vanessa was originally written for Vanessa Lengies, who eventually turned it down to film "My Suicide"; the part still bares her name.

Sony Pictures commissioned Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA to design a Haunt maze for its premiere in the month of October.

On the "Columbia" logo screen before the feature, the standard logo appears normal for a moment, then the hair grows and the Columbia statuette turns to Kayako as the word "Columbia" changes to "Grudge 2". The screen flashes for a moment as this happens.

* Extensive filming of a "US Army Camp / Base" took place during the weekend of 21st/22nd October 2006 in the courtyard outside the Citypoint Building, Ropemaker Street, London EC2. A large number of tents with US flags, cast in military dress and vehicles were in place. Additionally access to the sub-floor car park area appears to have been given to shoot an underground scene.

* Danny Boyle directed some of the second unit filming.

* Robert Carlyle had turned down a part in 28 Days Later... (2002).

* The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff doubled for the interior of Wembley Stadium because, at the time of filming, the interior of the newly built Wembley was still under construction.

* As the snipers are shooting down the infected early in the movie, one of them shouts "This is FUBAR!" FUBAR is an acronym that stands for 'F***ed Up Beyond All Recognition'.

SPOILER: Series Trademark - Eye Gouge killing: When Don attacks his wife after becoming infected, he attacks her and presses her eyes in with his thumbs. In the film's predecessor 28 Days Later... (2002) Jim attacks and kills a guard in the mansion using the exact same technique.

They discover that the brothers have expanded upon the area's main attraction.. the House of Wax. And created an entire town filled with the wax-coated corpses of unlucky visitors. * On 26 June 2004, a sound stage being used for the film burned to the ground during a test of special effects equipment. The fire was started by a candle destroying a studio where this movie was being filmed at Warner Bros Movie World on Australia's Gold Coast. One crew member was treated for burns to his arm no one else was injured. The smoke from the fire also crossed onto a nearby heavily used Highway which caused health concerns for driving motorists, the Highway was not shut down during this incident.

* Paris Hilton did not have to audition - she was the director's only choice for her role. The rest of the cast was built around her.

* Throughout the movie, several characters can be heard saying Paris Hilton's (Paige) "That's hot" catch phrase.

* The main villain's name is Vincent, a reference to Vincent Price who starred in the original House of Wax (1953).

* Although Chad Michael Murray's character and his sister are listed to have the last name "Jones", no actual last name was given for them. Chad, in a radio interview, was shocked to hear his character finally had a last name, and said that it was an ongoing debate on set.

* Jared Padalecki is one foot taller than co-star Elisha Cuthbert. To make herself appear taller in scenes where she and Padalecki would be filmed together, Cuthbert taped two-inch blocks of wood to the bottoms of her boots. This was only done during scenes where they would be shot from the knee and up.

* While filming the abandoned sugar mill chase, Paris Hilton was embarrassed by her scream, so the first three times she screamed she had the whole cast and crew scream along with her.

* In the movie theatre where Carly and Nick are hiding, most of the wax figures were actually extras wearing mask

Based on the short Stephen King horror story of the same name, 1408 surrounds supernatural writer Mike Enslin, an author of two hit books focusing on supernatural phenomena. As research for his latest book, Enslin is determined to check out the notorious room 1408 in a New York City hotel by personally staying as a guest in the fabled room. With the intention that 1408 is just a myth perpetuated by stories and rumor that Enslin has collected for his past works. However, hotel manager Mr. Olin has strong objections to Enslin's stay and only warns him of possible danger to come. But Enslin is determined to go through and convinced that the horrific past of 1408 is just mere coincidence and a myth. But what Mike Enslin is about to experience is no myth, as 1408 truly is a room where the guests don't check out by noon.

* The initial inspiration for Stephen King came from a collection of real-life news stories about parapsychologist Christopher Chacon's investigation of a notoriously haunted room at the famous Hotel Del Coronado in Coronado, California.
* Kate Walsh was originally cast in this film, but was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with the television show 'Grey's Anatomy'. She was replaced by Mary McCormack.
* The story this film was based on was almost never written. Stephen King originally created the first few pages of '1408' for his nonfiction book, "On Writing," as an example of how to revise a first draft. The story, however, intrigued him, and he wound up not only finishing a complete draft, but adapting it for an audio-book compilation of short stories.
* There are many references to the number "13" throughout the movie. The room is numbered "1408", add each number together equals 13. The room is on the 14th floor, and the Hotel skips the 13th floor, so the room is technically on the 13th floor. The room's key lock also has "6214" etched into it, which adds up to 13. And the first death was in the year 1912, which adds to 13.
* One of the first victims of the room was named "Grady." Grady was a character in "The Shining," Stephen King's other horror story about a hotel.
* Mike Enslin has a Chicago White Sox hat. Chicago is John Cusack's home town. Also, in a previous film, Eight Men Out (1988), John Cusack portrayed White Sox outfielder George "Buck" Weaver. John Cusack himself is a devoted Chicago Cubs fan.
* In addition to the previous numbers adding up to 13, the hotel is mentioned to be at 2245 Lexington Street in New York City. 2245 adds up to 13.
* When Gerald Olin is talking to Mike about his previous books he accidentally calls Mike's first book "The Long Walk," instead of "The Long Road Home." This is a reference to the Stephen King novel, "The Long Walk."
* Towards the beginning of his stay in room 1408, Mike mentions that "some smart-ass" once wrote about the 'banality of evil.' The smart-ass in question is German political theorist and intellectual Hannah Arendt, who wrote about the 'banality of evil' in her essay "Eichmann in Jerusalem."

* While filming in Baltimore, Daniel Craig got the call from 'Barbara Broccoli ' informing him he won the role of James Bond. He had to take a short period off shooting to fly back to London for the Casino Royale (2006) press release.
* While filming at the Chilean Embassy in Washington D.C., Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig were to drive a white SUV to the entrance, stop the car and allow valets to park it. Kidman forgot to place the car in park and as she got out it began to roll down the hill. Craig swooped in from the passenger side and dove at the car, hitting the emergency brake and stopping the disaster from proceeding. This happened during heavy rain effects.
* Originally wrapped in early 2006, the film underwent massive reshooting in 2007. The reason for this was the studio which didn't liked the cut director Oliver Hirschbiegel delivered. To change that, Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski were brought in for rewrites and James McTeigue to direct the new scenes.
* Director Oliver Hirschbiegel's English language debut.
* Nicole Kidman was involved in an accident while riding with others in a picture car mounted on trailer being towed by a camera truck rig. While filming a stunt in downtown Los Angeles, the truck took a turn too wide, slid on wet pavement, and collided with a light standard. Several stunt artists on the picture car were injured in the accident. Ms. Kidman was brought to the hospital as a precaution, but was able to return to the set the next day.
* Veronica Cartwright played the character of "Nancy Bellicec" in the Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978).

A young boy (about 10 years of age) helps his sister's boyfriend burgle the house of their money grabbing landlord. The house is a cross between that of the Adams Family and Fort Knox.. The burglars manage to get in but they cannot get out. The owners return. Locked inside the house, unable to escape, the boy witnesses the horrific habits of the owners, and the numerous caged "people under the stairs".

THE CUBE / CHILDREN OF THE CORN

Six total strangers awaken one day to find themselves alone in a cubical maze. Once they meet, they work together using their given skills and talents to survive the deadly traps which guard many of the colored cubic rooms. Using Leaven's mathematical skills, they press forward, upward, and downward through the hatches to try and find the outer shell.

* Shot on a single 14'x14' set, made to look like many different cubes through the use of different-colored panels.

* All of the characters are named after prisons: Quentin (San Quentin, California), Holloway (England), Kazan (Russia), Rennes (France), Alderson (Alderson, West Virginia), Leaven and Worth (Leavenworth, Kansas).

* Not only are the characters named after prisons but they reflect the prisons themselves. Example: Kazan (the mentally challenged character), in Russia is a disorganized prison. Rennes (the "mentor") was a jail that pioneered many of today's prison policies. Quentin (the detective) is known for its brutality. Holloway is a women's prison, and Alderson is a prison where isolation is a common punishment. Leavenworth runs to a rigid set of rules (Leaven's mathematics), and the new prison is corporately owned and built (Worth, hired as an architect).

* To show their support for the Toronto film industry, the special effects company C.O.R.E. did the digital effects for free.

* Director Vincenzo Natali directed a follow-up short film in which we see what is outside the cube. Natali has made a solemn vow never to reveal what was outside the cube, and destroyed the video years ago.

* One of the earlier drafts of the script had the characters finding bizarre alien food. The idea was subsequently lost after it gave too clear a definition as to who was responsible for the cube.

* The handles on all the hatches are industrial die holders used for cutting threads on rods and available in any hardware shop.

A boy preacher named Isaac goes to a town in Nebraska called Gatlin and gets all the children to murder every adult in town. A young couple have a murder to report and they go to the nearest town (Gatlin) to seek help but the town seems deserted. They are soon trapped in Gatlin with little chance of getting out alive.

* Though real corn was used for most of filming, polyurethane corn had to be used for the more difficult action sequences.
